Storm shelters and rebates

Pick a tested shelter and claim a rebate the right way.

For landowners 3 min read

  1. Learn the types. Read the shelter types page to compare in-ground, above-ground, and safe-room shelters.
  2. Check the standard. Look for shelters built to ICC 500 and FEMA P-361.
  3. Check rebates first. Open the rebates page and apply before you buy, or you can lose the rebate.
  4. Pick an installer. Find a shelter installer in Find a Pro and send a request.
  5. Register it. After install, register the shelter with your local emergency office if your area has a registry.
